With his brother, William 1591-1672/3, Ozias traveled from Bocking, Essex, England as part of the Braintree Co. on the ship Lyon. Ozias Goodwin was instrumental in organizing the voyage. The Braintree Co. was headed by Rev. Thomas Hooker and the Lyon arrived in Boston, Massachusetts on 16 September 1632 with 350 passengers, including 50 children. Ozias traveled to the New World with his wife, Mary (nee) Woodward and their first child, also named William. William traveled with his wife, Elizabeth White, and their children, Christopher and Elizabeth.
Ozias Goodwin- The immigrant was born in 1596 in England. He married Mary Woodard, daughter of Robert Woodard of Braintree in the county of Essex. He sailed along with his brother, William from London on the ship, "Lion", on June 22 1632 and arrived in Boston on Sept. 16 of that same year. Ozias is the head of the Connecticut family. He became a citizen of Hartford in 1639 or before. Records in the Conn. State Library prove this. Ozias died before April 1681.
