John William Klein was born in Neuvid Germany. He came to the United States in 1851 at the age of 9 years with his mother, 4 sisters, and 3 brothers.

It has been said that they arrived by boat at Boonville, Missouri and went from there to Morgan County tomake their home not far from the small town called Florence, Missouri. The home site was chosen because it provided many ot the things needed for living in those times: timber for buildings, heating, cooking and fences; a creek for water supply, and land adaptable to cultivated crops and pasture.

John William Klein married marie Meirs of the area in which he lived, on January 30, 1864. Marie was born in Morgan County Missouri, however, her parents had come frm Germany at an earlier date.

John William and Marie Meirs Klein had 13 children, 8 girls and 5 boys. She died in 1899. He lived on the farm in Morgan County until 1916 and then made his home with sons and daughters until his death in 1919. John and Marie were buried in the Ebenezer Cemetery near Florence, Mo,
